Building upon the success of its predecessor, the 2nd International Seminar on Earth Sciences and Technology (ISEST) was held on 7-8 March 2023, once again bringing the global scientific community to Bandung, West Java. Hosted by the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology, Institut Teknologi Bandung (FITB-ITB), the seminar continued its mission under the forward-looking theme, “Advancing Earth Sciences, Embracing Technology.” This theme signaled a deliberate evolution from our inaugural event, sharpening the focus on the transformative potential of the digital era to accelerate discovery and engineer innovative solutions in the earth sciences.
The 2023 seminar served as a dynamic nexus where geoscientists, atmospheric scientists, oceanographers, and engineers convened to explore the practical application of cutting-edge tools. Discussions and presentations centered on the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced remote sensing, high-performance computing, and big data analytics into traditional and emerging earth science disciplines. The event successfully highlighted how these technological advancements are not merely supplementary but have become fundamental to deepening our understanding of Earth’s complex systems and addressing environmental challenges with unprecedented precision and speed.
