The 3rd ISEST

The Indonesian Archipelago is consisting of thousand of island separated by varying depth of seas. The island is shaped by tectonic activities and thriving with volcanoes, mountain ranges and many geological wonders. The archipelago is home to 270 million peoples and countless bio diversities. Its nature provide an invaluable resources, not only for Indonesia, but also the whole world. At the same time, its natural activities also posses a threat to its inhabitant in form of severe or catastrophic phenomena. For a long time, knowledge and wisdom has been allowing us to cope with natural disaster and harness earth natural resources. The earth science and technology could be used as a guidance in sustainable development. Hence, advancing the earth sciences and embracing new technology become important in reaching the sustainable development goals. Knowledge sharing and technology exchange in earth sciences research is one key to foster this advancement.

The International Seminar on Earth Science and Technology (ISEST) is aimed to become a medium for knowledge sharing, idea exchange, and collaboration seeds on earth science and technological research. The main theme of the 3rd ISEST is “navigating the changing world through earth sciences and technology”. The theme implicitly underline the importance of adaptation in facing the changing earth. Thus, the 3rd ISEST will be emphasized on adaptable approach in natural resources management and adaptation to natural disaster, while still considering various subjects on earth sciences and technology. The 3rd International Seminar on Earth Science and Technology (ISEST-3) will be held in Bandung on 17 to 18 September 2024. The main theme is divided into 4 topics, which are Solid Earth Sciences, Ocean Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Earth Science and Technology. We also have two joint special sessions. The first one today is the Blue Economy special session collaborated with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. In the next day we will have the second special session of Disaster Risk Financing, in collaboration with Directorate General of Budget Financing and Risk Management of Ministry of Finance. Bandung is a beautiful city on the gaze of Mount Tangkuban Perahu in West Java, Indonesia. Bandung is a culturally-rich city and famous for its fashion industries.  It also poses academic significance for Indonesia as it hosted several prominent universities and research institutions. We believe that Bandung will offer a pleasant experience for your scientific exchange and discussion. We look forward for your participation on ISEST-3 and hope that this event will give us fruitful discussion, spark new interest and initiate new collaboration on earth science and technological research
